Wanderers Golf Day

Easts-Winners-Golf-DayWanderers has run an annual golf day since 2007. This has served two purposes;

  • to create an opportunity for members and their friends and colleagues to get together in the spirit of friendly rivalry on the golf course, and
  • as a fundraiser for the Club’s activities.

This annual event would not have been possible without the help of Kevin Kelly, who has used his experience in running Corporate golf days to ensure our day is well run and goes off without a hitch. With Kevin’s help and expertise, we now have the same teams coming back year after year to enjoy each other’s company and support Wanderers.

Wanderers-Golf-Day-Pix-2In the early years of the event we enjoyed the course and facilities of Manor Park, under course General Manager Steve Wallace. Steve was always most supportive of our cause and we always looked forward to visiting them at season’s end, usually mid-April or early March.

In recent years we have used the Shandon course and greatly appreciate the assistance and support offered by Bondie ( Ross Bond) and the Shandon team. The event is now usually held in the early part of the cricket season.

The success of this important day in our events schedule relies totally on the support of the members. In a perfect world we would have a full field every year, thus ensuring a profitable day for the Club.

This is one event which should be pencilled into every member’s calendar.
